Into the dull, and starless, and clouded night,
I surrender, yet not with all my might.
To drift, I lay, there is no light,
From here to yonder,
To the open sea.
Through the never –placid river
In a boat, in a boat with a single unused paddle,
Hush…I’m almost through the addled,
Yet silent, clandestine breakwater.
